So it seems like the daily bike rides really do help to shed the pounds!
As you know if you've been reading, it's been raining lately and I haven't been able to bike to work. BUT -- just half a pound to go before I'm officially ready to start the count down from 190lbs!
What I haven't been talking about is how my clothes are fitting. My shirts are noticeably baggier on me and I've moved up a spot on the belt buckle! One thing I've noticed that I'm not sure how I feel about is that my face has lost some of its fat and I'm worried about my eyes looking sunk-in. I don't want to look like a zombie, but I'll worry about that when the time comes. :)
Anyway, it's still raining today and I've decided to pop into Costco tonight to see if I can grab one of those 24-Hour Fitness memberships for around $25/mo. That way, I can just grab my iPhone and listen to some tunes while I jog on the treadmills for a half hour a day.
As usual, I'm writing this right before lunch so I'm pretty famished. Will power prevails though -- I'm going to go find something carb-free and South Beach friendly.

Day Eleven - 9lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, seriously guys. This is amazing stuff. I just jumped 1.5lbs over night.
Now, I know I'm supposed to stay hydrated so I have been. It can't just be water weight I'm losing, so I'm pretty stoked.
This acai ultra burn stuff really works! I've been eating fish more lately as well, so that probably helps -- eating the right kinds of fats, combined with the fiber and antioxidants in Acai. It's just the right combination to get the ball rolling in the right direction.
My only problem today is that it's been raining pretty hard, so I had to drive into work. I'm making up for it with less calories though, so I should be OK.
I've been thinking about getting a gym membership through Costco's 24-hour fitness pass. It's super cheap and this way, I could do more exercise on a daily basis. I figure, I'll start with 30mins a day and work my way up. Also, it would be good when I can't use my bike on a daily basis.

Day Ten - 7.5lbs!!!!!
Wow!! I looked at the scale today and I'm down to 192.5lbs! Hell yeah!!!
The 180's are so close, I can taste it. Now I just want to eat even better and ride my bicycle more vigorously. :)
In fact, my bike ride today was excellent. Barely a drop of sweat, as the air is still nice and cool in the mornings. Then it started raining, but it felt great!
Only problem now is .. if it keeps raining, I need a ride home.
For now, just getting some work done and pushing through the day. Looking forward to lunch!

Day Nine - 6.5lbs Gone
Ok guys, I just want to say that I really think the bicycle rides are helping. I mean, I've been losing a pretty consistent amount of weight over the last week or so. Sure, acai helps me stay energetic and regular, but the bike rides are making me work harder than I would otherwise. I truly recommend it.
Anyway, about the acai product feedback -- as you've read in my recent posts, I've been feeling more energetic than usual and I mean that. When I wake up, I don't spend as long getting out of sleepy mode yet I still sleep like a log when I do go to bed.
I'm sure part of all of this has to do with getting more sleep as well due to the increased exercise, but I can tell my endurance has gone up in several areas ;) ... but specifically, in terms of how long I can keep a pace of about 20mph on my bike.
Lastly, I'd like to report that I'm very regular as well thanks to the fiber content in the acai capsules as well as my diet. In fact, I'm becoming like clockwork. :)
On that note...

Day Eight - Knowing Is Half The Battle
... is what GI Joe says and apparently it applies to dieting as well. Unless you know how to diet and what to eat, the battle is going to be extremely difficult. The same applies to exercise.
With that said, I'm already at the 6lbs mark!
That's right, ladies and gents. I'm starting this week off with a bang. It's Martin Luther King Jr. day and I've got the day off, so I'm just taking it easy today. Still taking the capsules like normal and feeling energetic.

Day Seven - 5 Pounds GONE!
I'll keep this one short and sweet, but I'd just like to take a moment to thank the folks over at Acai Berry Reviews for helping me out so much. The first 5 pounds is always the toughest for me, so thanks guys.
The best part is, my belt is looser and my side-boobs are going down. I can't exactly see crazy big results in the mirror yet, but I'm sure I'll be able to once I hit the 10lbs mark.
Just a word to those who want to do the same thing I'm doing -- just take one day at a time and you'll get there.
30lbs to go!!!

Day Six - 4.5lbs Gone! Woo!
That's right! I weighed myself this morning and I'm down to 195.5lbs. For most of you, this probably doesn't seem like a big deal but to me, it's crazy! I haven't been able to lose weight in a long time. I feel great.
I took an acai capsule last night with my dinner, slept like a baby and woke up feeling great. I took another this morning with breakfast, and felt pretty energized. The bike ride was decent as well; didn't feel too much strain.
Now it's lunch time so I felt like updating. It's weird -- I really do feel a difference in terms of thinking, mental clarity and energy levels. It's funny that this little pill can give me such a boost, but I'm loving it. If you're thinking about losing weight, I highly recommend it.
The most difficult part so far is avoiding desserts, breads and pastas. I love those things so much, but they are the exact reason I went from 165 to 200 in the first place, so .. as long as I can remember that, I'm in good shape. I've made it this far, so I feel like as long as I can maintain a good attitude, I will make it in about 7-8 weeks total. As long as I keep it in that perspective, it doesn't seem so bad.
I just have to remember to stay focused on South Beach and remember to take my acai daily to maintain my 165 once I'm there. :)

Day Five - Acai Adventure
This morning, I weighed myself and I'm teetering right at 196.5lbs, but I hadn't eaten anything yet. I started things off with a couple of eggs, some snow peas and a capsule of acai berry supplement (Acai Ultra Burn). So I feel pretty energetic at this point.
I had a decent bike ride in today as well. There's a really steep hill to get to the building where I work and I worked my way up with medium difficulty and wasn't completely out of breath at the top. Victory! Usually I have to hop off the bike half-way up and walk the rest of the way. Also, sometimes the bike chain slips. I hate that.
When Acai Burn gets here, I'm going to alternate them. One day, I'll take Acai Burn and the next, I'll take Acai Ultra Burn. We'll see which yields better results. I've been hearing some good things about Acai Berry Edge as well, so I might have to just order up a bottle of that as well. (Why not? It's cheap!).
For now, I feel good and I'm looking forward to the rest of my day. Energy is up!

Days Four & Five
Didn't post yesterday because it was a very hectic day. I did get a bike-ride in on my way to work, but I had to leave work early to go to a symphony. Ever heard of Alan Silvestri? He did the scores to such movies as Back to the Future I, II and III, Forrest Gump, Father of the Bride, etc. In any case, it was amazing.
I weighed in this morning and I'm right at 197lbs, so I although my belt does feel a bit looser, I think the bike-riding is building muscle in my legs. I guess the real purpose to losing weight is to look good, so that's what's important.
The good news is that riding my bike is getting easier and I think I figured out how to mix it up nicely as there are two paths to work with varying terrains. Now if only I could find a third. Oh well.
I'm pretty sure the acai berry is going to arrive today, so I'm pretty stoked about that. I noticed the Acai Berry Review guys updated their site and I must say -- it looks great! I'm dying to find out what kind of results I'm going to see once I start using acai supplements. I've been reading great things, so ... yeah. Soon.
-- Edit at 7:13PM --
Acai Ultra Burn arrived today! I read over the instructions and it seems pretty straight forward. Just a couple a day and I should be golden. I took one tonight just to see how I felt afterward and I must say, I do feel better but I don't know whether that's placebo talking.
Anyway, I'll update you more tomorrow. It's time for a nutritious dinner, I hope.

Day Three - Legs Burning
Wow, I really powered through this morning's bike ride. My commute is about 1.5 miles as I learned from my odometer and about half of it is a slight uphill climb, so in trying to pedal harder I can really feel my legs burning/straining.
For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea to bring a water bottle as well. Do you know how annoying it is to have to stop to drink your water bottle? I'm thinking of getting one of those CamelPak's that you just wear like a back-pack. That way, I can just sip cold water as I go.
I put Pandora on my iPhone. If you aren't familiar with Pandora, it's basically a free music service that will play music that it thinks you would like based on your chosen artist and past ratings. It's really pretty amazing and works over the 3G network on the iPhone, so I can listen to and from work.
I'll probably update later, but the only thing I have left to say for now is that my Acai Burn and Acai Berry Supreme should be arriving today or tomorrow, so I'm somewhat excited about that. For breakfast, I had a nice egg/cheese/veggie scramble with a diet coke. Yes, the breakfast of champions. :)
-- Update @ 6:30pm --
Just finished out the day with a great dinner. I forgot to mention -- I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 2lbs! I officially weigh 198lbs and declining. I can't wait to see what the results will be like once I add acai to the mix. Still no sign of shipment. It should be here tomorrow or on Monday.

Day Two - Feeling Great
I literally bounced out of bed this morning!
Yesterday and today, I rode my bike to work and it was an exhilarating feeling to say the least. It's still pretty cold in the mornings here, but after a few minutes of pedaling, I was nice and warm. At that point, the air felt fresh and cool (keeping the sweat away).
There are surprisingly a lot of people that take the bike path I use -- people walking, jogging with their babies, jogging alone, biking and even the odd rabbit here and there. It's not as crowded as I'm making it seem, but it's certainly not a lonely path.
There are two dips I ride through on the way there. Each time I go through the dips, it feels like I'm either going to fly off of my bike or the wheel is going to fly away ... in which case, I would fly off of my bike. So I think I'm going to try a slightly different route that meets up with the path after the dips, even if it means pedaling over the freeway overpass.
Today, I ordered a couple of those free trials of acai berry supplements I found on Acai Berry Reviews. What's cool is that I can try a few at a time and all I had to pay was a few bucks in shipping -- highly worth it. Needless to say, I'm anxiously awaiting both bottles to see what kind of results I can get with exercise and the amazing acai berry. Right along with the supplements, I will be cutting out ALL carbs (as many as possible anyway): rice, bread, etc. They are the devil and my Metrosexual Guide tells me that they're the reason behind my 'carb face.' Speaking of metrosexual- I know it's a bit girly but I can't help but think of fitting into new clothes as well as my old clothes that I've kept for occasions such as this.
Tomorrow, I ride into work again. I think I'll listen to some tunes on my iPhone on the way in this time. We'll see if it makes the ride shorter.

Day One - My Weight Battle
Hey guys, Scott here.
I decided today that I will no longer be a victim to my own cravings and I will stop giving in.
Currently, I am 5'10 and weigh in at 199-200lbs (depending on how I stand on the scale) and it's completely deflating to see what was once a decent 165lbs boy turn into a man with side boobs and a belly. I've gone from wearing a men's size small to a men's size large just to distract from my round shapes underneath.
But none of that matters now. I have my bike ready for daily rides. I have my diet plan in place, as well as the regimen I will follow directly afterward. I have my goals set and I'm ready to go. Diet and exercise, here I come.
My bike is a 26" Schwinn from Costco with a speedometer/tripometer attached, so I can see how many miles I go and in what time-frame.
The particular diet I've chosen is the Acai Berry supplemental diet, as there are numerous free trials I can take advantage of for free. I've heard some back and forth on this issue and based on the results I've seen, I think Acai is going to be the best tasting and the best for me, which are both things that will keep me going. I did quite a bit of research until I found a company that researches trial offers on a monthly basis and reports its results. Since they've helped me so much in terms of time saved, I'm going to be name dropping them a lot over the course of this blog journey. So to the people at Acai Berry Reviews, thank you.
Now as far as goals go, I plan to make it down to 190 by the end of the month. This shouldn't be too difficult, as the first ten pounds are usually the easiest to go (yoyo pounds) and besides, I have about 24 days to lose them. After that, I will start goal setting by fives (185, 180, 175, 170) until I reach my goal -- 165.
So there you have it, my supplements on the way, my daily biking about to begin and goals laid out. Can't wait to post my results!
